French' em up

Are you writing a fic ?

Do you want your characters to look all cool and/or fancy and/or snobbish and/or arrogant
and make them SPEAK FRENCH ?

Well, you're in the right place !
This idea came to me while reading fics where characters were either French or supposed to be fluent in French, but what they said just didn't make sense.

As a French person myself, I thought I could help writers if they want their characters not only to speak French but also to sound French.

How about that ?

If you want my help for a little frenching (no that is not what I was thinking of), just comment here and I'll get right back at you.

Title: Disorganised Crime
Characters: Harry Potter, Neville Longbottom
Rating: PG
Warnings: none
Word Count: ~6K
Summary: In Muggle London, heroes end up in jail.

This fic was written for my prompt at [community profile] hp_friendship and is a real delight. It focuses on the friendship between Harry and Neville, and is just perfectly perfect, and everything I've ever wanted.

It's really funny (I actually laughed out loud several times while reading it) and its characterisations of Neville and Harry are to die for. Neville, particularly...*sigh*. This fic can show you all the reasons I love him better than I ever could.

And the conversations they have are so realistic, too. The writing is very simple and to-the-point and is just there to serve the characters.

I really love this and wish with all my heart that everybody would read it and comment and rec and everything!

This is a re-post of the fic I wrote for the [livejournal.com profile] dracotops_harry fest. It is posted on an external site here, but I thought it warranted a re-post, just in case.

Title: Normal Is the Watchword
Prompt : Prompt #38 by [livejournal.com profile] drarryxlover
Summary: This story is about love and family and yes, maybe it’s not supposed to be about Jamie exactly, but Draco and Harry are very stubborn and Jamie’s just a kid, you can’t expect him to completely extract himself from a story he’s actually living, right?
Rating: PG-13
Pairing(s): Harry/Draco, and multiple canon pairings in the background.
Warnings: Past mpreg (nothing graphic) and a wee bit exhibitionism.
Word Count: ~30k
Author's Notes: This is my first participation in a fest and the longest fic I’ve ever written, so I’m a little bit nervous. I hope that even if my take on the prompt is a little bit unconventional, it’ll please anyway. Also, (and maybe she’s already tired that I keep repeating this) thank you to [livejournal.com profile] niteshine for the beta! (Any mistakes remaining are my own). Title from a good ol’ Veronica Mars episode.

How awesome is this show, really?

1) There's Jason Isaacs in it.

2) This is definitely quality film-making. The visuals alone, with cold/warm colours, are just so much above average TV.

3) I love the complete confusion the two shrinks bring up.

4) The guy's like a super-hero with a secret identity, except he's got two secret identities, and a very depressing super-power.

5) There's Jason Isaacs in it.

I discovered the existence of this show by chance. I was like, 'Oooh! Jason Isaacs!' and then I watched the trailer and I was like, 'Oooh! How come I'm not watching this already?'.

And then I watched it.

I just love this so much. Usually, in crime-shows, I think they try to focus too much on the cops' personal lives and it just seems fake and forced. Here, I'm just so confused because I want more personal life stuff but I don't want to sacrifice the investigation-time. Oh and I want more shrink-time, too. I want more of it, period.

Please let it not be like Boomtown. I adored it so much and they cancelled it just when I'd managed to convince people to watch it.

Now that the LDWS is over, I can re-post the three drabbles (real drabbles with real drabble-length, yay!) I got to write for the challenge. It was a really fun experience and there was a lot of good writing each week. Go check out the masterlist!

Week one, theme: The cupboard under the stairs. )

~

Week two, theme: Knockturn Alley. )

~

Week three, theme: Grimauld Place. )

This is absolutely hilarious, and funnily enough has been written for the prompt Hufflepuff. Yeah, I didn't see it coming either!

So yes, I was kind of bored and procrastinating (again) at the same time and I felt like challenging myself and trying to be original, so I decided to launch my own Weird Pairing Experience.

I've just decided to draw random pairings out of a hat (I literally did that) and to write a drabble on a randomly chosen theme (same method as the pairing) about them, whatever the pairing might be.

a little more explanations... )

I just wanted to amuse myself with this, but if anyone out there wants to do it too, I'm really curious about what other people would do with it, so leave me a comment.

All right: this is the first and only time you'll ever witness any patriotism from me.

But just...

YAY!

lamerezouille: (Annie)
I am procrastinating, right now. Procrastinating a lot.

Usually I don't really care for Valentine's Day one way or another, but as I'm trying not to finish my paper on devolution I'm supposed to hand in later in the day, all I have as distractions are lj and the radio, where EVERYTHING is about the V-Day and I can't just ignore it. Especially as these Glass Hearts everywhere are having me humming Heart of Glass since they appeared yesterday...

So here it is, my gift to you all, so you can share my musical condition:

And yes this version is from a performance on the French version of American Idol. I never watched the show itself, but the girl in question did good things afterwards, so it gets my seal of approval (and I dig her glasses).

I did it! I’m officially an achiever!

Very official-sounding thank yous to everyone + a statistic-y recap of my achievements )for her wonderful work in organising this wonderful challenge. Each prompt was for me the occasion of trying to do something new and original (no idea if it worked, but I’m pretty sure I had never read any H/D involving Barack Obama before) and to manage to do it in not too many words (which is hard because I tend to babble, but easier because finishing something long in a timely manner in definitely not my forte).

The next thanks go to everybody who commented and did seem to find some of my drabbles funny, and I don’t know if they actually exist, but I’d like to thank people who read them but didn’t comment, too. And I’d like to particularly thank [livejournal.com profile] enchanted_jae, for having commented on every single one of these drabbles, and [livejournal.com profile] nennefor reccing The Underpants (Day fifteen), thus making it my most popular thing ever. ♥

Also, HELLO! to the new friends I made during this advent period, it’s really nice to meet you!

[livejournal.com profile] sassy_cissadid this huge and wonderful work putting together a list of everything written for this year’s challenge, and it’s really awesome. I haven’t managed to find time (yet!) to read any others myself, because I made a deal with myself I’d read every [livejournal.com profile] hd_holidaysentries this year, before realising they were an average of a gazillion words each (plus they’re actually all very good and I’m reccing everything).

And, because I’ve no other reason to do it but because I want to, here are some statistics about my participation in this challenge:

Total of words written: 16 800 (average: 672 w/drabble)
Longest drabble: The Most Powerful Muggle (Day Three) (1200 w)
Shortest drabble: Dinner for Two (Day Eighteen) (260 w)
Number of drabbles with Draco’s PoV: 10
Number of drabbles with Harry’s PoV: 11
Number of drabbles with other PoV: 4 (Barack Obama, Orla Quirke, an OC-from-the-future, and Ron Weasley)
Most recurring secondary character: Hermione Granger
